Institutional Leadership on Digital Equity

Overview

As higher education transitions to increasingly digital and hybrid learning environments, the “Digital Divide” has evolved from a simple lack of internet access into a complex barrier involving hardware availability, technical literacy, and institutional support systems. Current research into institutional models reveals a critical performance gap: reactive models—characterized by “tethered” in-building technology and siloed support—create significant administrative burdens (averaging over 1,100 technical queries daily) while failing to meet the “anytime, anywhere” needs of modern students.

The Digital Equity Maturity Model framework provides a structured pathway for institutions to address the divide.

Overview

Creating and sharing OER across colleges and universities offers significant benefits. However, questions often arise about intellectual property, open licenses, accessibility, platforms, and shared workflows - which often slows momentum or discourages participation.

Learn how to create, adapt, and share Open Educational Resources through the M.O.S.T. Commons. This resource offers practical guidance for collaborative, accessible, and student-centered OER development.

Navigating AI and Academic Integrity for Faculty and Students

Overview

The rapid integration of AI tools in higher education poses challenges for academic integrity. In the absence of clear and consistent guidance for faculty and students on how to use these tools responsibly, this gap creates confusion, inconsistent practices, and risks to transparency and trust in online learning. Faculty may struggle to interpret or enforce expectations, while students are often unclear about acceptable AI use. To address these concerns, this project will develop a student and faculty guide with checklists promoting ethical and transparent use of AI that aligns with other institutional values and academic standards.
