MarylandOnline is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Shinta Hernandez as the new Director of the MarylandOnline Leadership Institute (MOLLI). Shinta succeeds MOLLI's founding director, Doug Gray, who has been instrumental in the growth and success of MOLLI.
Shinta brings a wealth of leadership experience to this role. She is Dean of the Virtual Campus at Montgomery College, is a 2019 MOLLI alumna, and has been a MOLLI facilitator since 2021. For nearly 17 years in higher education, she has helped to advance work in online education, open education, social justice and equity, professional development, policy and planning, and inclusive curriculum. She has also served in leadership roles with the Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources, Maryland Chief Officers of Online Learning, and the Maryland Higher Education Commission. She was recognized by Women We Admire as one of the Top 50 Women Leaders in Maryland.
We would also like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to Doug Gray for his remarkable service as Director. Since the first days of MOLLI, Doug has been a steady presence for the Institute and has seen it through five Residential Programs, numerous webinars, and other events. His leadership, care, and good humor have left an indelible mark on MOLLI and positioned it for future success. We extend our best wishes to Doug, who will always have a place in our MOLLI community.
